Scandinavia Show, Earls Court, London, 8-9 October 2011

This is the second year running we have attended this event and pleased to report that this one was bigger and better. Over 5,000 visitors attended on day one alone. We were entertained by the Danish Gospel Choir, the Finnish Tango concert artistes, Laura Ryhanen and Uusikuu, the amazing Siberian Huskies and the Notorious Vikings.

For our stand we decorated simply but effectively using autumn leaves, Christmas branches,  and a variety of flowers. A hurricane garland made from leaves twisted its way from the ceiling towards the floor; a giant wreath, decorated with boxwood, nobilis and lights adorned the back wall, which helped to create a very cosy setting, amongst smaller wreaths whose vibrant autumnal shades positively glowed .

During both days Pasi demonstrated how to make a christmas wreath using a wide range of materials, even making some with scraps of material. He certainly caught the attention of our visitors who were captivated by the rythmic binding movements and the wonderful aromas of eucalyptus, mint and nobilis.

Our immediate Danish neighbours were Ingrid Schultz of Marguerite Cakes, whose products are not just tasty but look deliciously tempting too; and Evalen from Yarmood, whose company produces very stylish cashmere clothes and blankets that feel fabulously soft against one’s skin. Other businesses we visited and spoke to were: Vallila whose fabric designs of natural/modern landscapes, flowers and birds really impressed us; the Swedish bicycle company, Skeppshult showed us their wonderful collection of retro and modern bikes for city and country riding; two of Santa’s helpers promoted festive Santa Holidays in Lapland; and finally we spent time networking with the Directors of Skandium. Their products represent the best of Scandinavian Design, and are available in a number of stylish London based outlets.

We not only took lots of bookings for our Christmas workshops but also advance orders for door/advent wreaths.  Our reputation for design excellence was certainly enhanced this weekend judging by the complementary feedback our visitors bestowed upon us.
